Where's
the Money,
Lois???

The case

In 1998, a full 10 years ago, Mrs. Pope established (with the help of a shrewd tax attorney) a Foundation under the name of the Disabled Veterans' LIFE Memorial Foundation. The goal was to construct a National memorial to honor those who served our Country and suffered life-long disabilities.

A great cause... right? On the surface we thought so too. Until we pulled off a few glossed over layers of this Foundation. Millions have been wasted on trinkets, travel and parties! The Foundation has used people along the way and to this day doesn't even have their story straight. One deception after another and it's business as usually at the Foundation(s).

There appears to be flagrant gross mismanagement of funds, confusing statements and possibly potential donor contribution abuse. How do you see it?

We are concerned

We are concerned that this Memorial project to honor our “Disabled Veterans” may never be built.

We are concerned that the donors to the Foundation (DVLMF) co-founded by Lois Pope and Arthur Wilson (Disable Veterans of American- DAV, CEO) may have been mis-lead as to how their donations would be used. Certainly not for the actual construction of the Memorial as stated on the official Foundation website under Donor Bill of Rights.

We are concerned that financials with respect to the Foundation where not provided to an independent consulting company evaluating the viability of the Memorial Project. Why was the report abandoned?

We are concerned that Foundation executives are providing misleading statements to donors. (See email to ATT Pioneer Partners)

Watch this Video.

Lois Pope clearly states that in November 2006 that the DVLMF has raised $20,000,000 when in fact federal tax returns from inception (1998) to December 31, 2006 indicate only $1,152,737 net asset (fund balance). That’s after collecting $31,446,005 during the period. By the way the Foundation collected $23,341,851 in 2007. However, the Foundation the same year spent $20,712.941 (About $0.90 out of each $1.00 went for administration and other fundraising expenses). This shows poor management policy.

Think about this? December 31, 2007 the Federal Tax Return indicates net assets of the fund as $3,781.647. Five short months afterwards, Executive Director of DVLMF, Victor Biggs writes to an organization that “to date we have raised $70 Mil of the $86 Mil needed to begin construction. Wow! Do these people believe no one is keeping score?

Read the “Viability Assessment Report” (That Lois Pope paid for and son Paul states that he was told by her to burn it and never to talk about it again) for yourself (see entire report here).

Review 1998 to 2007 tax returns (front pages only) here. You’ll have many questions yourself.

Should you wish to see the entire return as a donor you are entitled to this information. We are requesting they make all filed returns available to everyone online as a PDF file. Call toll free 800-331-7590 to request that they get their “figures straight” and to be more forthright in their statements pertaining to the progress of their fundraising efforts or write to Mr. Fredric Fenstermacher, COO (who by the way... NEVER served in the US Armed Forces, but makes $120,000 a year at the AVDLM and DVLMF Foundation) at this email address and request copies of completed and filed returns be mailed directly to you. rfenstermacher@dvlmf.org

So you may ask, what’s the issue here? Well, as a tax payer you are unfairly treated when a so-called charitable foundation mismanaged donated funds which are “tax deductable”. As a donor to DVLMF and AVDLM you are entitled to know how your money is spent. WOULD YOU DONATE TO ANY CHARITABLE CAUSE THAT ONLY APPLIES A “DIME OUT OF A DOLLAR” TO THE CUASE? Please join us in asking Congress and the Internal Revenue Service to conduct a full financial audit and look into this Foundation, their fundraising practices, their statements and percentages personally donated by Lois Pope and the DAV under the direction of their CEO Mr. Arthur Wilson (Co-founder of AVDLM and DVLMF) Can they pass the litmus test of a 501C3. Let’s wait and see!

See my personal comments: I want to see a Memorial honoring Disabled Veterans built in our Nation’s Capital. These brave men and women deserve it! Send us your comments to replylois@gmail.com

Our Mission

This web site is dedicated to all the Men and Women that have so bravely and selflessly sacrificed and served our nation. Our Veterans are the backbone of the freedom and security we all enjoy. Our Veterans have sacrificed a great deal only to return home and in many cases not be properly treated by the Country that asked them to serve.

Let us begin to expose the injustice to call forward the “Fat Cats” that are living well of the backs of the Veteran and laughing all the way to the “First Tee”! Their job is to serve you and not you serving them. Hold each responsible for performance or remove them!! CHANGE IS IN THE AIR.

When we see something “NOT RIGHT” or “SMELL A RAT”, it is the duty of every citizen of this Country, (Veteran or non-Veteran) to come forward with information to question and expose and wrong doing.

We all witnessed recently how quickly our investments and retirement accounts dwindled because a group of corrupt and lying individuals were left in charge of our assets. They looked us straight in the face and said “everything’s great”. Don’t worry we have it all covered. Well it wasn’t great and it wasn’t covered!

Let’s not allow this “Great idea of building a Memorial to honor our disabled Veterans go the route of Wall Street.

Take some time, thoroughly look through the website. Read the Tax Returns. Do the math. Read the letters. Determine for yourself if there are questions that require answers. Are there any possible conflicts of interest? Pass the information onto your friends and fellow Veterans, If you smell something wrong, write you your Senators and Congressional Representatives to look into this matter. Send us your comments. Open the Forum for exchange of ideas and dialogue.

Remember, you fought for freedom and one of those freedoms is speech. No lawyer can shut us up!!! We can ask questions, demand answers and express are opinions.

We must all ban together to expose and fight corruption and the misuse of our Nation's most valuable resource... The American Veteran!!!

Let us start by asking Lois. WHERE'S THE MONEY? HOW MUCH ACTUAL DOLLARS WERE COLLECTED AND HOW MUCH IS LEFT IN THE BANK TO BUILD THE MEMORIAL?

The Veteran Community also wants to know...

Meet Lois Pope

Lois Pope

Lois is a "Self Described" Philanthropist – She is also known as Lois Berrodin, Lois O'Brien, and Lois Wood. The present day Lois Pope, is the widow of Generosa Pope, the late founder of the “gossip tabloid”, National Enquirer. Some referred to as gossip others simply a “trash publication” with fiction replacing facts. Crackers called it a “mullet wrapper”.

We’re concerned that donors to the Disabled Veterans Memorial project are also being provided a distorted view of current financial data and information. Things just seem to be twisted and finances are not transparent. Maybe Lois and her inter-related Foundations need to be audited by the Internal Revenue Service to separate fact from fiction?

She currently resides in opulence and luxury in Delray Beach, Florida and is an active participant in the "Palm Beach" elite social society. Lois co-founded this Memorial Project with Arthur Wilson (Disabled American Veterans) to build her legacy as a Philanthropist.
